The Service aims and outcomes will be achieved by regular individual support planning in accordance with Elite's support plans.  The service will primarily focus on achieving high outcomes, ensuring that the young people are supported to maintain an independent role in the community, with advice and assistance to access other appropriate support services.  Young people will be assisted in self development and sustainable independence to provide them with the opportunities to develop skills and meet new challenges.    

 

Each young person will leave the project having acquired the skills detailed below:

 

Life Skills

 

• Be able to manage an effective budget, shop effectively to be able to prepare fresh and healthy food.

• Empowering to enable structure and daily routine for themselves.

• Be aware of the importance of health and safety in the home.

• Be able to demonstrate a satisfactory level of housekeeping tasks.

• Be able to identify and register with their local health services to monitor good health.

• Be able to plan and achieve realistic goals and ambitions to reach their full potential.

• Be able to make healthy life choices to promote an understanding of the importance of a healthy lifestyle

Tenancy Sustainment

 

• Be able to demonstrate they understand the terms of their tenancy.

• Be able to report maintenance and safety concerns without staff support.

• Have an understanding of what is considered unreasonable or anti-social behaviour.

• Ensure they pay their rent, service charges and manage on a limited income.

• To respect the furniture and furnishings in the property.

 

Welfare Benefits

 

• Be able to renew their claims for benefit within the specified time scales to avoid gaps in their claim.

• Demonstrate an understanding of their entitlement to benefits and be able to complete forms independently

• Be able to identify support services in the community who can assist with claims.

• Be able to comply with the Job search Agreement and to avoid sanctions..

 

Education and Employment

 

• Be able to identify college courses and job opportunities.

• Be able to complete application forms and CV's.

• Be able to use the media and the internet to identify training, college and employment opportunities.
